Within a landscape by Kim Wilkie around a new house by Ben Pentreath is this pool not for formal lane swimming but for informal dipping; a place to go to within the landscape.

Rather than a pool enclosure sitting on the land, the proposal belongs to and is inseparable from Kim Wilkie’s landscape. To be built of black concrete, it aims to have the character of a natural rock pool under the protection of a great stone ledge.

It is formed of two interweaving contours: the upper one forming the grassed roof; the lower cutting under and following a spine wall forming the back of the pool. Behind this wall, entirely underground, are toplit changing and spa spaces.
