William Smalley RIBA was established in 2010. An architect of rare sensibility, the studio’s work shares a deep understanding for old buildings and their contexts with an excitement for new spaces.

Current work includes private residential, office, retail, event and gallery spaces in the UK and New Zealand.

His first book, Quiet Spaces, a search for quietude, through projects of the studio and places of inspiration, is published by Thames & Hudson worldwide and is available to order online.

This lambent book is a meditation on time. It is a series of pauses in particular buildings.

His feeling for the kindness of materials shines through. You want to touch.
