Stripped again

Another house stripped of its crude joinery and modern textured wallpaper. Sadly also stripped in the ‘70s of its fireplaces.

As the client said: You’d probably like to leave it like this. They are right, part of me would. The plaster revealed has the quality of a Cy Twombly painting, worth even more than the house. But ultimately the Georgians who built this house were a breed of perfectionists (in what was seen at least, the house has needed careful stitching together). We will follow their lead, and indulge in a little of their obsession.
