A design for a new house in Somerset, to be built in local stone with large frameless windows on the edge of a valley looking towards an iron age hill fort.

The design incorporates existing outbuildings on the site, atop a bastion wall which extends to form a raised garden inspired by Petrarch’s garden in the Enganean hills of northern Italy, in which the owner and her two daughters can walk among scented plants high above the valley below.
