This apartment in a listed building by Alfred Waterhouse was stripped back to the brick to reveal two deep walls running cruciform through the plan.
The thickness of these walls inspired the new vaulted hall, and a shower room in polished plaster as if carved out of solid mass, and new walls of a similar depth housing storage and the kitchen.
Lights in the hall are bespoke, and backlit shelves in the living room hold plough shares from the client’s country farm, which is close to the quarry of the Purbeck marble fire surround.
